For example, Methuselah, a 4,856-year-old bristlecone pine in California, holds the title of the oldest known individual tree, while Sweden’s Old Tjikko boasts a clonal root system over 9,000 years old. Pines predate dinosaurs, having evolved over 300 million years ago.
